User and security management
The SAP Basis & Technology department deals intensively with SAP technologies and their application. The possibilities and limits are examined and corresponding specifications and tools are developed in order to use the technologies profitably. The results and findings are made available to the other alogis areas and implemented in real-life customer projects.

This point may sound a little trivial at first. Who tests, surely documents this? Experience shows: Yes, but often patchy. In the case of unsuccessful tests, where subsequent or additional developments are due and the cause of the error is not directly apparent at first glance, good result documentation often pays off. This saves developers time in communication and effort by re-imagining the scenario. At this point, the SAP Solution Manager offers extensive opportunities to manage templates and result documents centrally and in the individual test plans. Automated testing only Automated testing offers many advantages, whether it is a higher software quality through more comprehensive test coverage or reusability of test cases. However, it does not always make sense to use only automated test scripts. A less good choice is the test automation for frequently changing software or processes, because the maintenance effort can be enormous. At this point, it is often more effective to run manual test runs instead of spending a lot of time customising test scripts. Poor test preparation The relevant processes have been defined, the test plans have been created and the test period has begun - so can testing begin? Not always. Lack of test preparation often leads to unplanned additional time costs. Sometimes the testers were not familiar with the test environment or no one thought about taking care of a sufficient and current test data set (master data, movement data). Make sure you have thought of everything you need! (missing test data, unrepresentative test environment, unstable).
Monthly Reporting / Reviews
The SAP Patch Manager (SPAM) is the online correction support (OCS) customer site. The SPAM transaction gives you the ability to easily and efficiently import support packages provided by SAP into your system. Depending on the system used or the configuration of your system, you must insert different types of Support Packages [page 8]. You will receive support packages in SAPNet - Web Frontend, in SAPNet - R/3 Frontend or on Collection CDs. Since SPAM runs within the SAP system, you do not need to know the operating system to handle the transaction. In the language usage of SAP, the term patch has been replaced by the term support package. Note that you can only work with this transaction in SAP GUI for Java and SAP GUI for Windows.

The master's thesis identified and examined in detail influencing factors such as technological trends and the SAP product strategy as well as the company-specific conditions. Several empirical studies were also carried out in the course of the work. If you are interested in the entire Master's thesis and are a DSAG member, you can read the document at, headword: Master thesis SAP-Basis of Tomorrow, request.

"Shortcut for SAP Systems" is a PC application that simplifies or even facilitates many activities in the SAP base.

Understandable explanation of the roles Often roles have no talking names and for the decider it is not clear which specific permissions are behind a role.

In deciding on one of the above concepts, the SAP basis must be included for the evaluation of various technological and operational aspects, which offers the possibility to develop a sound decision.
