SAP authorizations: Recommendations for setting up, monitoring and controlling
Here, too, it is possible to create security and an overview with the help of tools for HR authorizations. The tool creates a clear overview of which data certain users are allowed to access in the SAP system. Based on this, it is possible to develop automatic checks that run in the background and regularly monitor whether changes to authorizations have created critical gaps in HR.
New AP implementation, S/4HANA conversion or redesign of an SAP authorization concept - the complexity has increased enormously and requires a clear structure of processes, responsibilities and the associated technical implementation. New technologies such as Fiori and Launchpads are challenges and reasons to rethink authorization structures.
Context-dependent authorizations
In addition to existing authorization objects, you can also create your own authorization objects and select existing authorization fields such as Activity (ACTVT). To the individual fields then, as with ACTVT, the permissible options which are deposited at the field can be specified. Thus, for an own authorization object with the authorization field ACTVT, the activity 01 Add or Replace, 02 Change and 03 Display can be selected and would then be available as a selection in the authorization field in the role maintenance.
First, select the authorization object that you want to maintain. There can be multiple permissions for each authorization object. Then load the trace data by clicking the Evaluate Trace button. A new window will open again, where you can set the evaluation criteria for the trace and limit the filter for applications either to applications in the menu or to all applications. Once the trace has been evaluated, you will be presented with all checked permission values for the selected authorization object. With the Apply button, you can now take the values line by line, column by column, or field by field. In the left part of the window, you will see the permission values added to the suggestion values already visible. After confirming these entries, you will be returned to the detail view of your role. You can see here the additions to the permission values for your authorization object.
Authorizations can also be assigned via "Shortcut for SAP systems".
Now all the roles concerned must be adapted.
