The SAP authorization concept also maps the organization of authorizations within the SAP system. The organizational structure defines responsibilities and the authorization hierarchy, while the process organization specifies process steps and the activities and authorization objects required for them in SAP. The authorization concept must therefore be flexible enough to allow future changes in the organization to be implemented quickly and in compliance with the rules.

Additional checks should be performed on document transactions in specific processes. This may be necessary, for example, when booking via interfaces in customer-owned processes, if the booking is to be possible only under certain conditions or on certain accounts.
Maintenance Status
Authorization tools are a great help in designing a highly automated compliance management system that precisely fits the company's own requirements. The introduction of authorization tools takes some time, but should nevertheless be tackled by companies in order to increase efficiency in the long term and save costs at the same time.

You can influence the default behaviour of various transactions and parameters with the customising switches for the maintenance of Session Manager and Profile Generator as well as the user and permission management. The SSM_CID table gives you an overview of all customising switches supplied by SAP, specifying the relevant tables SSM_CUST, SSM_COL, PRGN_CUST and USR_CUST. The short description of the customising switch refers to the relevant and current SAP references. The actual settings can be found in the SSM_CUST, PRGN_CUST and USR_CUST tables.

With "Shortcut for SAP systems" you can automate the assignment of roles after a go-live.

For example, here you can read additional attributes to the new user from an external data source.

In this way, each employee is given system access through the role-specific assignment of authorizations according to his or her tasks.
