SAP license optimization
Even if key users (department users/application support) do not have to develop their own authorization objects and cooperation with SAP Basis is always advantageous, there are often technical questions such as "Which users have authorization to evaluate a specific cost center or internal order?
Without generic table logging, certain changes in the system are not traceable. Learn how to turn on table logging in the system for a large set of tables. The SAP system writes change documents for most changes - but not all. Specifically, changes to tables in which the customising is performed are not recorded in the modification documents. This may lead to a lack of comprehensibility of changes. Avoid this by basically enabling table logging and then setting logging for specific additional tables. You should always enable table logging for all clients. However, during a release upgrade it may be necessary to temporarily disable table logging.

This approach makes authorization management considerably more efficient, since functional changes do not have a global impact on the entire authorization structure. This ensures the quality of authorizations in the long term. Authorizations in SAP systems enable users to access the applications relevant to their activities. To ensure that processes are mapped securely and correctly, SAP authorizations must be regularly checked and reworked.
Coordinate authorisation management in customer-owned programmes
The basic idea of the approach described below is to evaluate the previous usage behaviour (reverse engineering) for the definition of the required permissions. In the first step, you configure the retention time of usage data, because each SAP system logs the calls to bootable applications. This way, not only the user, at what time, what transaction, but also the user, which function block was called. These data are then condensed into daily, weekly and monthly aggregates and stored for a specified period. This statistical usage data is originally intended for performance analysis; You can also use them to determine the permissions you need. We described the configuration of the retention time of the statistical usage data in Tip 26, "Use usage data for role definition". Please also refer to our explanations on the involvement of your organisation's co-determination body in the storage and use of the statistical usage data. In addition to the settings described in Tip 26, you should also adjust the retention time for the RFC Client Profile (WO), RFC Client Destination Profile (WP), RFC Server Profile (WQ), and RFC Server Destination Profile (WR) task types using the SWNCCOLLPARREO Care View.

For simplicity, we want to explain this example by using the PFCG_TIME_DEPENDENCY background job. This job calls the report RHAUTUPD_NEW or can be executed directly with the transaction PFUD. Imagine that there's no transactional code for this job yet.

With "Shortcut for SAP systems" you can automate the assignment of roles after a go-live.

Many companies also have the requirement to present the events of the Security Audit Log in other applications.

To do this, click the SAP Reference-IMG button or create a new project.
