Create order through role-based permissions
Roles can be cut so that, for example, they only have display or change permissions. Furthermore, it could be differentiated between customising, master data and movement data maintenance.
Make your IMG projects more secure. We show you how to create customising permissions for individual projects or project views, thereby limiting access. With the SAP Implementation Guide (IMG), there is a tool that allows you to customise your SAP system to suit your business needs. You can manage access to projects in the IMG via customising permissions and thus limit the user circle. You grant the members of an SAP project team the permissions they need to support the project. Below we show you how to create customising permissions by mapping to the IMG projects.
Further training in the area of authorization management
After you have determined the data for the website, you must now generate the initial password and send it by e-mail and unlock the user if necessary. There are also different solutions - we describe a possible course of action. You can generate a password using the GENERATE_PWD import parameter of the BAPI BAPI_USER_CHANGE. The generated password is then set as the initial password and must be changed at the next login by the user. You must also set the PASSWORDX import parameter to display a password change. The generated password is returned using the export parameter GENERATED_PASSWORD. This is required if you want to call the BAPI BAPI_USER_CHANGE from a central system (e.g. from the ZBV) and send the relevant e-mail from that system. You should never save this password, but include it directly in your application in an email. Subsequently, you send this e-mail to the user whose e-mail address you can determine either directly in the SAP system (parameter ADDSMTP of BAPI_USER_GET_DETAIL) or within the scope of your web application (e.g. from the AD). Even if you find the email address in the AD, we advise you not to send the email from there. To avoid the password being unnecessarily transferred, it is better to initiate the despatch within your central SAPS system. In addition, we strongly advise you to send the emails encrypted with the initial passwords. To do this, the implementation of your self-service must set the encryption flag when creating the email. We describe details about the encryption of emails and an alternative sending of the initial password directly from the affected SAP system in Tip 98, "Encrypt emails".
In the foreground, important SAP reports on the subject of role and authorization administration were presented. Since these and the entire SAP system are known to be based on ABAP coding, the analysis of the source code is just as important, especially when using in-house developments. These in-house developments often present serious security vulnerabilities because they have insufficient authorization checks in the coding. To search for explicit strings and to categorize the in-house developments accordingly, the report RS_ABAP_SOURCE_SCAN can be used. This allows existing programs in the backend to be explicitly checked for specific check patterns by the authorization administrator and any errors to be corrected by the relevant developers. Authorization-relevant check patterns for such a scan are, for example, "AUTHORITY-CHECK" or SQL statements such as SELECT, UPDATE or DELETE. The former checks whether authorization checks are present in the source code at all. The check for Open SQL patterns analyzes the code structure for direct SELECT, MODIFY or INSERT statements that must be avoided or protected on the authorization side. The best practice measure in this case is to use SAP BAPIs. The preventive best practice would be to involve developers and authorization administrators equally during the conceptual design of the custom development.
For the assignment of existing roles, regular authorization workflows require a certain minimum of turnaround time, and not every approver is available at every go-live. With "Shortcut for SAP systems" you have options to assign urgently needed authorizations anyway and to additionally secure your go-live.
For the start authorization check of Web Dynpro ABAP applications, the system uses the authorization object S_START in the same way as the authorization object S_TCODE for transactions.
Open the PRGN_CUST table either directly or via the customising in the SPRO transaction in the respective subsidiary system.
